G-Resources is an Asia-Pacific gold company, based and listed in Hong Kong, and is operating the Martabe Gold Mine in North Sumatera. The open cut mine, with an average strip ratio of less than 1.4:1, and a conventional processing circuit incorporating jaw crushing, SAG and ball milling and CIL, processes in excess of 4.5mtpa to produce greater than 250,000 ounces of gold and 3 million ounces of silver annually. To strengthen the existing management team and to ensure the achievement of the company objectives, the Martabe Gold Mine is looking for candidate to fill the role:
Environment Manager (ENV 1290) This position will be based at the Martabe Gold Mine and reports directly to DGM Business Services. Key accountabilities include:
• Manage the site environmental monitoring program.
• Manage all Government environmental reporting requirements.
• Manage the site rehabilitation program.
• Manage site environmental inspection programs.
• Monitor and report on environmental risk and compliance.
• Contribute to the development of the site’s HSE management system.
• Ensure workforce awareness of environmental compliance requirements.
• Support all departments in implementation of leading practice Environmental Management Systems and practices.
Candidates for this role would be expected to have the following qualifications and experience :
1. Post Graduate Degree in Environmental Management or similar.
2. 10 years experience in the mining industry in the field of environmental management.
3. Experience with team development, project and staff management.
4. Experience of water and waste rock management in a high rainfall environment.
5. Thorough knowledge of environmental management issues related to mineral resource development
6. Knowledge of environmental auditing.
7. An excellent personal safety record
8. High level competency in personal computer applications including Excel, Word, Power Point & Project
9. Knowledge of incident investigation practices to identify causes and remedial actions.
10. Experience of ISO14001 implementation.
11. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with others as part of a team and contribute to a harmonious working environment.
12. Enthusiasm, self-motivation and the ability to maintain direction and achieve work objectives with minimal supervision.
